The piste colour coding guide... blue, red... diamond???

The most important signs are those which dictate you should go no further for safety reasons. These will be self explanatory and multilingual in all maintained slopes. The colour code which indicates the difficulty of the run varies depending on the region in which you are skiing. The tables below show the codes for the main international ski destinations:

Europe
Green - Very easy
Blue - Easy
Red - Moderate
Black - Difficult

North America
Green - Easiest
Blue - More Difficult
Black - (Single Black Diamond) Most Difficult
Black - (Double Black Diamond) Expert

Australia and New Zealand
Green - Beginner
Blue - Intermediate
Black - Advanced
Black - (Double Black Diamond) Expert Only

South America
Green - Beginner
Blue - Intermediate
Black - Advanced/Experts
